A new Macaron de Riquewihr® to mark our 30th anniversary

It all began back in 1996: the classic Macaron de Riquewihr®, our very first speciality which was created in Riquewihr, in the quiet of our very first atelier. 30 years on, to mark this anniversary in delicious style, we wanted to return to our roots - not to just replicate them, but to celebrate them with our bold, signature touch.

The Coconut & Yuzu Macaron de Riquewihr® has been crafted from this guiding conviction, honouring our heritage by perpetuating it and developing it. Just like the Coconut & Passionfruit Macaron de Riquewihr® which we created to celebrate our 20th anniversary, we’ve chosen yuzu to mark this special anniversary for its bold character and tantalising, refreshing notes.

A rare citrus fruit in an unexpected combination

Yuzu is a unique fruit native to Asia, with an intense fragrance evoking hints of lemon, grapefruit and mandarin, all in one citrus fruit. Its vibrant tang, aromatic complexity and lively freshness make it a rare and prized ingredient, highly sought after by the finest pâtisseries and restaurants.

Combined with the mellow sweetness of coconut and sugar, and expertly dosed to allow its aromatic intensity to come through without dominating every bite, it creates a flavour combination that is both surprising and perfectly matched: vibrant but not overpowering, tropical without straying too far from the traditional Alsace heritage of the bredele it has been worked into.

30 years of bold character and the timeless essence of Alsace

When they first combined coconut and cane sugar in a traditional bredele, our founders had already taken a bold step in the world of Alsace biscuiterie. Three decades later, our pâtissiers are still driven by the same passion and pour the same spirit into their craft: innovating whilst honouring tradition, creating recipes that align with our heritage yet which continue to delight and surprise our customers, ever-faithful to our Alsace roots.

Our pâtissiers recommend popping your Macarons de Riquewihr® into an oven pre-heated to 180°C for just a few minutes before serving. This will allow their flavours to fully develop, so you can enjoy an exquisite treat over coffee with friends… For the full flavour experience, try serving them alongside a cup of Sencha green tea or a ginger infusion.

Coconut 39.7%, sugar, EGG, dextrose, yuzu purée 3.7%, WHEAT flour (GLUTEN), humectant: sorbitol, inverted sugar syrup, colouring: safflower extract.

All our products are made in a bakery which also works with wheat flour (gluten), milk (lactose), eggs, nuts (almond, hazelnut, pistachio, walnut), sesame, soya derivatives, peanuts and ingredients which may contain traces of sulphites.
