Easter in Alsace
In Alsace, Easter is one of the biggest events of the year when it comes to traditions and culture. Just one of the many regional customs, you’ll find an Easter tree in every Alsace household. Picked out in the forest and then organised into bouquets, tree branches become a traditional symbol that takes pride of place in the home. Easter trees are then decorated with hand-painted eggs and little nests made from moss and twigs, with children across Alsace all eagerly waiting to see what tasty treats the Osterhase (a.k.a the Alsace Easter Bunny), will leave underneath it for them.

While Easter egg hunts are held throughout France, in Alsace it's not bells but rather a hare (the Osterhase) that is used to hide chocolate eggs in the garden. Also, on Easter Day, the Stork and her friends the Osterhase and the Lamala guarantee a wonderful treat for guests, from breakfast through to an afternoon coffee break…
